Compared to previous week’s
close, slaughter steers steady to
25c higher, heifers 25-50 c higher.
Cows strong to 25c higher, bulls
fully steady. Feeder cattle and
calves steady to strong.
Four day receipts 16,300 as
compared 15,400 previous week
and 16,400 a year ago. Slaughter
steers approximately 39 per cent,
heifers 38 per cent, cows 12 per
cent, feeder 8 per cent.
Stimulated by fairly stable
carcass beef prices early in the
week fed cattle prices advanced
moderately and closed slightly
higher for the first time in five
weeks. However, the trade
slowed after early rounds
Wednesday and large share of the
early advance lost. Marketings
were slightly larger than the
previous week but well
distributed over the trading
period.
