Horse Fun Show Results
Donna Stoltzfus of Lancaster,
who boards her horse at the Sego-
Sago Farm on the FruitviUe Pike
and Mrs. Fred Bussell owner of
the neighboring Bar-B-Acres got
together and held a “Neigh
borhood Fun Show” for horse
owners in the area.
It was held on Saturday
evening, July 29 at Bar-B-Acres.
Equine owners were from the
above two farms plus the
“Double D L” on the FruitviUe
Pike, the Tomlinson and Peffley
farms of East Petersburg. The
judge was James Watts of
Manheim and the ringmaster
was Kirk Bussell of Bar-B-Acres.
Winners of the events were:
Dollar Bareback, Buddy ridden
by Mark Moyer; Pole Bending,
Midnight ridden by Fred Shert-
Merri Maids
Hold Roundup
The Lampeter-Strawburg
Merri Maids Sewing and Cooking
Club held their roundup Monday,
July 31 at 3 P.M The mothers
were invited to see the girls
model their garments. Jane
Landis narrated while Joyce
Houser, the president, played soft
music on the piano.
Barb Cramer gave a demon
stration on making attractive
recipe holders with artificial
flowers and a plastic fork. Treva
Lefever and Tammy Oliver
played and sang “Blowing in the
Wind” on their guitars.

Baby Beef Tour
The New Holland Baby Beef
Club held their annual baby beef
tour on July 22. Members,
leaders and parents visited the
homes of each member. Progress
of the animals was checked, and
members demonstrated their
ability at handling the steers.
Galen Yoder conducted a fit
ting and showing demonstration
at the home of Kathy, Jeff and
Mike Martin.
Plans were made for an August
8 tour of Victor F. Weaver, Inc.,
and the annual picnic afterwards
at Hershey Brothers Farm,
Paradise Jeff Martin

Champion of the evening was
Stardust ridden by Lashon
Bussell and reserve Champion
was Jill’s Poco Buck ridden by
Dave Root.

Nifty Needles
Fashion Show
The .Nifty Needles 4-H Sewing
Club held a fashion show Aug. 1,
at The Fellenbaum Home. The
members wore their sewing
projects which they made during
the last eight weeks.
Guests were Miss Lucas,
assistant extension home
economist, and Mothers of the
members. The club members
elected Jamie Maurey as the
Junior Queen and Robin
Fellenbaum as the senior queen.
These girls will go on to
compete in the county wide
Queen contest to be held Aug. 10,
at the Farm and Home Center.
It was also decided to go on a
one night campout on Aug. 14,
supplies will be bought with the
money that was earned when the
girls sold Kathryn Beich candy.
