Slaughter steer and heifers
through Thursday were steady
except steers weighing under
1100 pounds and heifers under 850
pounds, these weak to 50 lower.
Utility and Commercial cows 50
higher. Canner and Cutter strong
to 50 higher. Bulls weak to 50
lower. After opening trading
early Monday, activity on both
steers and heifers was fairly
active the balance of the week.
Smaller cattle slaughter for the
nation and cooler temperatures
this week were both imporatnt
considerations in the turn -
around in cattle prices after
Monday. Local heifer supply
increased to about 35 per cent,
steers 50 per cent and cows 15 per
cent. Quality largely High Good
and Choice steers and heifers
except some High Choice and
prime steers on Monday.
