heart, Adam and Eve sword,
plant, white regal lilies, tiger
lilies, fairy lilies, rose of sharon,
ferns, lupines, roses of all kinds,
columbines, silver lace vine, 15
kinds of iris, oriental poppies,
daffodils, tulips, foxgloves,
pansies, impatients, coleuses,
geraniums, marigolds, zinnias,
sweet peas, petunias, begonias,,
African violets and gloxinias.
Besides tending to her flowers
she mows all the lawn. It takes
about two hours a week to do it.
Mrs Ober worked at Boden
stems since 1949. ‘ They make
children’s dresses of all kinds for
girls two to sixteen years old. She
makes nearly all her own dresses
and used to sew for her grand
children.

crocheted four rag rugs which
are 8 by 10 foot and one larger
one. She also crocheted a shawl.
She has a collection of about 65
or more vases of all descriptions.
Some are antiques. Many were
given to her.
She loves to paint picutres in
the winter time. She has painted
22 pictures in oil. Most of them
are paint by number but two she
did free hand.
Mrs. Ober belongs to Saint
Paul’s United Methodist Church
in Elizabethtown and Mr. Ober
belongs to the Lutheran Church
in Elizabethtown.
Margaret was married
previously to John Heisey and
lived on Bainbridge Road. She
has a daughter Irene who is
married to Paul Heisey. He
works for the Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission, driving
heavy equipment such as
graders. They have one
daughter.

Raises Great Fruits, Flowers
Another daughter, Peggy, is
married to George Floyd. He
works for Pennsylvania Power
and Light Co. and they live on a 23
acre farm. They have three
daughters.
Mrs. Ober has one son, John
Heisey, who has a jewelry store
in Manheim. He is married and
has one son and two daughters.
Obers have a garden and Mrs.
Ober does a lot of canning and
freezing. She doesn’t have a lot of
time for cooking except on
weekends. Here are a few of her
favorite recipes.
Raspberry Custard
1 can Eagle Brand condensed
milk
Juice of 1 lemon
1 box raspberries
V 2 pint whipping cream
1 large baked pie shell
Beat lemon juice and Eagle
Brand milk a few minutes. Add
berries (washed and drained).
Put in cold baked pie shell. Whip
cream, adding sugar and vanilla

French Apple Wedges
2 eggs
V 2 cup sugar
% cup sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Vz teaspoon cinnamon
x k teaspoon nutmeg
V< teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
2 cups pared apples, chopped fine
x h cup cream whipped
Beat eggs till light. Sift dry
ingredients together; add to eggs
along with vanilla, nuts and
apples. Mix well. Pour into
ungreased 9-inch pie pan. Bake in
moderate oven (350 degrees) 25
to 30 minutes. Cool. Serve with
whipped cream.

Cabbage Slaw
1 medium head cabbage
1 can crushed pineapple

3 tablespoons salad dressing
1% cups miniature mar
shmallows
Slaw cabbage. Add salt,
pineapple and salad dressing.
Add marshmallows last.
