Farm Women Society No. 5 met
Thursday evening, June 29 in the
East Petersburg Church of the
Brethren with Mrs. Mervin
Peifer, vice president, presiding.
The Society recited the 23rd
Psalm for devotions, followed by
prayer and the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Many delicious deserts were
furnished by members of the
Society.
This past month, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Stehman celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary with a
drop-m party attended by friends
and Society members.
There will be a bus trip to
Ocean City, New Jersey on
Monday, August 14. Anyone
wishing to go please call either

Plans were made for the
Society to help furnish and serve
the food to those helping with the
clean-up following the fire at
Roots Auction.
Members brought baked goods
which were auctioned with Mrs.
Paul Ebersole as auctioneer.
The treasury realized a nice
gain which will enable us to
donate to some of the requests to
aid the needy.
The date of the next meeting
was changed to August 5 and will
be held at the home of Mrs.
Charles Forney.

The president, Mildred Hersh,
announced that the recipient of
the English award was Debra
Hopkins, a recent graduate of the
Pequea Valley High School.
It also was announced that the
County will hold a family covered
dish picnic on August 2 and the
County Retreat will be held at
Camp Swatara, August 26-28.
The July meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Aaron
Denlinger, Oak Hill Dr.,
Paradise. Home Economist Doris
Thomas will speak on ‘Home
Decorating’.
