The Mount Joy Second and
Third year 4-H Sewing Club met
Tuesday, July 4, at St. Mark’s
United Methodist Church for
their third work meeting. The
second year girls put the zippers
in their cullott skirts and the third
year girls put the facings on and
sewed the side seems in their
jumpers.

4-H Horse and Pony Club
On July Ist the Saddle Cinches
4-H gorse and Pony Club held a
Grooming and Showmanship
Contest for all club members who
are interested in going to the
Lancaster County Round-up on
July 22nd at the Lancaster Riding
Club. The results were as
follows: Grooming and
Showmanship Jr. First Place,
Margaret Keeney and Panfly;
Second Place, Barb Steffy and
Ginger; Third Place, Debbie
Myers and Dusty; Fourth Place,
Sue Cassel and Shane. Grooming
and Showmanship Sr. First
Place, Jackie Wendler and Big
Red; Second Place, Connie
Sweigart and Gabilen’s Cutter
Bup; Third Place, Lori Zerphey
and Tawney Mane; Fourth
Place, Cindy Wendler and Shane.
The Club will hold it’s July
meeting at the home of Margaret
Keeney R.D. No. 4 Manheim.
After the meeting a horse clean
up will be held for the County
Round-up. The Meeting and
Clean-up will be held on July 15th
at 10:00 am.

4-H Club Meets
The Third meeting of the Penn
Manor Clashing Thimbles was
held on June 28 with 24 present.
Minutes were read and stood
approved as read County Council
Representatives were elected.
They are Jeanette Bauman and
Linda Leaman. Alternate was Jo
Ann Metzgar. Clean Up Com
mittee was Sue Eckenrod and
Lori Joe Leaman. Meeting was
adjourned and the members
broke up into work committees.

Garden Spot Sewing Club
Nancy Gable, president of the
Garden Spot 4-H Sewing Club,
announced at its recent meeting
the candidtates selected to
represent the club for a county
wide contest that will be held in
August. They are Betsy Best,
Junior Queen and Margaret
Freeman, Senior Queen.
The next meeting will be held
July 10. Each girl is to bring to
the meeting a swatch of the
material and description of the
garment she is making for the
‘Fashion Show,’ July 31.

Pequea Valley 4-H
Club Plans Picnic
The Pequea Valley 4-H Sewing
Club met recently at the Pequea
Valley Intermediate School.
Plans for a picnic was set for July
28 at New Holland Park.
A committee was formed to
provide decorations for the
Fashion Show. Committee
members are Sylvia Buckwalter,
Susie Martin, Faye Bloom,
Sherrie Houck, Sally Martin, Sue
Skiles, Shelly Skiles and Judy
Fry.
