New York Eggs
Wednesday. June 7
Prices trended higher on
mediums and heavier weights.
Demand just fair locally on large
and mediums with spotty fair to
good diversions out of town.
Supplies of large ample,
mediums fully adequate and in
near balance, extra large range
adequate to short of desired
needs with'most street sales at
30%-32c. Demand for jumbos
unsatisfied with sales limited to
small lots available at mostly 36-
37c. Cartoning activity is
irregularly fair to good. Un
dertone steady with stocks
confidently held.

Ready-to-cook movement
continues fairly good though
occasionally less aggressive than
early week. Slaughter schedules
often reduced slightly in line with
needs. Several plants report
difficulty in reaching desired
slaugnter due to lack of help.
Less than trucklot prices held
unchanged on both Plant and U.S.
Grade A. Live supplies continue
fully adequate to ample with
weights tending heavier than
needed. Undertone fully con
fident. Pool trucklot prices for

butterscotch pudding and pie

heifers 50-75 c higher with many
Choice and Prime at the full
advance, instances 1.00 higher
late. Cows 50c higher. Bulls
strong to 50c higher. Small feeder
supply strong to 50c higher.
Four day receipts 22,300 as
compared 15,200 previous holiday
period and 21,700 a year ago.
Steers approximately 51 per cent
with overall finish attractive
including a considerable number
High-Choice and Prime. Heifers
32 per cent, supply
predominantly High-Good to
Average Choice. Cows 7 per cent,
and feeders 7 per cent. Increased
marketings quite well distributed
over trading period. Upward
spiral in fed cattle prices con
tinued for eight successive
weeks. Trading active under a
broad demand and all buying
interests aggressive for numbers
as fresh upturns in live prices
again solidly supported by
surging quotations on caarcass
beef at wholesale level.
