Local Winners in State
Grange Sewing Contest
The annual Pennsylvania State
Grange home sewing contest had
1,443 entries from 42 counties. A.
Wayne Readinger, state master,
said the event was the largest of
its kind on record in the 100-year
history of the organization, of
ficially known as Patrons of
Husbandry.
Among local winners was Mrs.
Lester Miller, Kutztown, RD3,
winner in class C (18-and-over
with garments for under-18’s).
Poultry Ventilation Workshop
Slated at Farm & Home Center
A poultry ventilation workshop
has been slated for Tuesday,
June 20, at the Farm and Home
Center, Lancaster. Reservations
can be made by contacting Jay
Irwin at the center. A $3
registration fee includes lunch.
The workshop will start at 9:00
a.m. and run till 3:00 p.m. Eight
experts from many different
areas of the industry will conduct
classes and answer questions on
the many aspects of poultry
ventilation.
