Tuesday s meeting and agreed increase in the health insurance
which is available to all testers.
Premiums are paid partly by the
State DHIA, partly by the County
association and partly by the
man. Red Rose DHIA agreed to
pick up the entire $2.20, retrac
tive to April 1.
The meeting centered mainly
around the topic of tester pay.
Lancaster County supervisors
appear to be one of the best paid
groups in the Southeast Region,
although their payments per cow
are lowei than some other
counties. This lower payment per
cow is set off by the fact that
there are a relatively large
number of cows within each
man’s region.
Wilbur Houser, head super
visor, reported that during the
recent Southeast District
Testers’ conference in Bucks
County Lancaster County testers
won Awards of Merit. This was
approximately one-quarter the
number of awards won by DHIA
testers in the entire state of
Pennsylvania. The directors
agreed that this performance
was indicative of the excellent
job being done by the local
supervisors.
In other business, the board
agreed to supply testers with
letters containing statements of
policy. The letters would outline
payments of fees and procedures
for setting times for testing. The
directors voiced the hope that the
letters would clarify these
procedures to the mutual benefit
of both dairymen and testers.
