Frank Stoltzfus Winner of
Frank Stoltzfus, immediate
past president of the Twin Valley
FFA and the Berks County FFA,
has been announced as the
winner of the 1971 DeKalb
Agricultural Accomplishment
Award. The award will be
presented to him at the annual
Senior Awards Asembly at the
Twin Valley High School on May
26 by Francis B. Wood, assistant
superintendent of Twin Valley
School District.
The DeKalb award is given to
outstanding seniors in vocational
agriculture departments
throughout the nation. Frank has
chosen to receive the award on
the basis of scholarship,
leadership, and his supervised
farming program.
Frank is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Houck, Elverson
RD2. He has served the Twin
Valley FFA Chapter as sentinel

in 1969-70, vice president in 1970-
71, and president for 1971-72.
Frank also served as president of
the Methodist Youth Fellowship
at Goodwill Church in 1971 and a
member of the National Honor
Society from 1970-72.
Frank has received many
awards during his four years in
vocational agriculture. In 1968 he
was chosen as Star Chapter
Greenhand. In 1969 he par
ticipated in the FFA Activities
Week livestock judging contest,
earning a silver medal.
In 1971 Frank received the
Keystone Farmer Degree, placed
sixth in yield in the Berks County
FFA com contest, and was
second in the FFA Public
Speaking contest.
As County president, Frank
served as a delegate at FFA
Week Activities Week at Penn
State in June, 1971, serving as

Twin Valley DeKalb Award
secretary of the Budget and
Finance committee.
In the Berks County Swine
Show and Sale Frank placed
second in showmanship, sixth in
fitting, and fourth and sixth in the
weight classes. Frank was
second in the County FFA
Tractor Driving Contest at the
Kutztown Fair, having also
participated in the livestock
judging contest.
Frank attended the National
FFA Convention in Kansas City,
Mo., as a representative of both
the Twin Valley Chapter and the
Berks County Association in
October, 1971.
He earned first in quality and
second in yield in the Berks
County FFA Corn Contest in
November 1971. In January, he
served as Berks County delegate
at the Pennsylvania Mid-Winter
FFA Convention at Harrisburg.
At the Berks County FFA
Banquet, Frank was chosen as
the Berks County Star Parmer.
He also received the Berks
County Youth Leadership Award
from the Berks County Elks Club
in March, 1972. He also received
the Keystone Farmer Degree in
January, 1971.
He has received Foundation
Awards in livestock farming,
crop fanning, public speaking
and chapter scholarship.
His farming program has in
cluded approximately 800 head of
hogs, two beef cattle, five horses,
38 acres of field corn and 14 acres
of wheat in the past three years.
