Twin Valley Installs New The Twin Valley Future Farmers of America held its regular monthly business meeting recently in the vocational agriculture classroom. Nevin Mast was installed as new president by Frank Stoltzfus, out-going president. Terry Murray was installed as vice preisdent, Beth McDonnell as secretary, Bill Ford as treasurer, Thomas Carskadon as reporter, Certainly Lasso' gets all kinds of foxtail: Yellow. Green. Giant. Stoltzfus as Robert photographer. The Chapter voted to serve as waiters for the sports banquet as requested by Mr. Arnold, advisor of student council which sponsors the sports banquet. The Chapter also discussed having a chicken barbecue during the summer for FFA members, parents, and guests. This motion was referred to a committee of three; Terry Chapter Officers Murray, Jeff Gabel and Lloyd Simmers. Also mentioned was the Practical Arts Exposition which was held May 10 in the Twin Valley gym. All areas of the Practical Arts Department had exhibits. Terry Murray reported that Ira Nissley will help sponsor the Twin Valley Pumpkin Growing contest for elementary students. Nevin Mast particpated in the Eastern regional FFA public speaking contest at the Lehigh County Vo-Tech School at Schnecksville. He placed fifth out of 12 speakers from the 19 counties in Eastern Penn sylvania. Twelve FFA members par ticipated in the Berks County FFA land judging contest at Sheerlund Forests. The Chapter team placed fifth out of eight teams competing None of the Chapter members finished in the top 10, but all participants learned more about the soils of Berks County. The Chapter is helping to establish an Environmental Education Area on about 40 acres of ground owned by the High School. Source of Stimulant The foxglove is used in the treatment of heart disease. Edminster, administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS). A research operation staff, located primarily m the field and headed by four deputy ad ministrators, will carry out the agency’s research at its present 210 locations throughout the U.S. Designated as acting regional deputy administrators are Dr. Steven C, King, Northeast region; Earl R. Glovgr, North Central region, Dr. A.W Cooper, Southern region, and Dr. H Rex Thomas, Western region.
