Hear Committee Reports
Members of the Lancaster
County Farmers Association
service committee reported to
the board that there has been
nearly a 50 per cent increase in
the use of the Safemark program
in the County this year.
An additional dealer has been
named to serve in the Safemark
program The new dealer is J.
Glenn Hess in the Central Manor
area.

Proposed for
Variety Protection Office
Regulations and rules of
practice implementing the Plant
Variety Protection Act and
covering the operation of the
Plant Variety Protection Office
was proposed by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture
(USDA)
Officials of USDA’s
Agricultural Marketing Service
explained that the Plant Variety
Protection Act was enacted to
encourage the development of
novel varieties of plants which
reproduce through seeds by
providing exclusive rights of
propagation to those who breed,
develop, or discover these novel
varieties.
