Sees, manager of Philadelphia
Electric’s Western division,
answered questions from board
members. They did admit that
test borings were taking place
but that no final decision had
been made concerning the
construction of a new atomic
energy facility in southern
Lancaster County.
Opposition has been growing
toward the construction of any
new facilities. Just a month ago
the Fulton Grange went on record
in opposing any new building on
the grounds that taxable land
would be stricken from the
Solanco School District and that
there could be possible radiation
damage to the environment.
The letter sent by the Soil and
Water Conservation District also
opposed new construction on
these basis.
For every man, woman and
child in the United States,
American farmers produced 27
bushels of corn during 1971.
