THIS ONE SHAKES
Van Dale 562 Shaker Feeder
Versatility.
That's the "562.” It’s a feeder
and bunk system all in one. It
shakes a uniform feed mixture
down the trough, provides its own
feed bunk and has guard rails as
standard equipment.
The “562” is versatile in oper
ation too. A variable speed drive,
powered through a rugged 3 hp
motor, allows you to feed fast or
slow. The stainless steel trough
is self-cleaning and enables you
to build a feed bunk from 22 to
102 feet in length. Extends to
any length by using a drive unit
every 102 feet.
And the unique shaking con
cept means you can provide an
even ration mixture for any type
of feed—even baled hay.
Dollar for dollar you won’t find
a more economical bunk-feeder
combination. And, since there
are no augers, chains or belts
you’ll find maintenance expenses
are close to nothing.
That’s the “562”. A little
money. A lot of versatile bunk.

Terry Murray reported that
two Twin Valley members
participated in the Berks County
FFA public speaking contest at
Conrad Weiser High School.
Nevin Mast, chapter vice
president, placed second in the
effective public speaking contest
and is now eligible to participate
in the area contest against
speakers from Berks, Lebanon
and Schuylkill Counties. His
speech was entitled “Soybeans
Miracle Crop to Feed the hungry
World.” Terry Murray placed
fourth with his speech on dairy
heifer management.
Robert Stoltzfus reported that
Twin Valley was represented at
the Berks County FFA
parliamentary procedure con
test. The team, which included
several last minute
replacements, placed third. The
Governor Mifflin team was first
and Conrad Weiser was second.
Stoltzfus stated that all members
who participated increased their
knowledge of parliamentary
procedures.
Lloyd Simmers reported that 13
FFA members served as waiters

Chain Feeder and Conveyor
Workhorse,
That’s the Van Dale 1400
Feeder System. It delivers up to
40 tons an hour of hard-to-feed
materials. And keeps them uni
formly mixed the entire length
of the bunk.
The “1400" system is designed
especially for large operations.
The entire unit can be suspended
or floor mounted with speed and
low installation costs through Van
Dale's exclusive “snap-together”
construction.
All galvanized metal construc
tion means less upkeep and
maintenance. The motor and
drive unit remain stationary and
fully shielded for maximum safety
and minimum repairs.
Compare any large capacity
feeder system with Van Dale.
You’ll choose the workhorse

banquet. This was in exchange
for the FHA girls waiting on
tables at the FFA banquet. This
proved to be both an interesting
and an educational experience
for all members.
Stanley Stankiewicz reported
that the landscaping committee
met with Mr. Wood to obtain his
ideas on what the FFA could do to
improve the school grounds.
Many ideas were exchanged with
some concrete plans being made
for this spring. The FFA will
plant some evergreen and
deciduous trees. They will also
plant crown vetch on the bank in
front of the school.
Plans for the pumpkin contest
are proceeding. The Chapter
voted to have two movies to
entertain the students while the
pumpkins are being judged.
Hopefully all pumpkin contest
material will be distributed to
students by the middle of May.
Members discussed whether
they would like to have another
paper drive. Members felt that it
was worthwhile, but were
hesitant because of the recurring
problem of a lack of licensed
truck drivers. No decision was

Included in the Berks County
FFA meeting a( Oley High School
was an interview and a small
gasoline engines contest, as well
as election of County officers for
the 1972 - 1973 school year.
A motion to have a window
exhibit for all local fairs and the
Pennsylvania Farm Show was
referred to a committee of six.
The program of work and
budget will be prepared by May
10 so that hopefully it can be
distributed before the end of
school. All old and new officers
will work on preparing these.
Proficiency award applications
which were distributed in
February must be returned to
advisor Frederick by May 10.
President Frank Stoltzfus
revealed that the department
chairmen are currently con
sidering an FFA proposal to have
teachers visit local farms for an
In-Service day. Members
discussed which farms they felt
teachers should visit. It was also
stressed that the cooperation of
all members will be needed to
help make this a success.

Efficiency.
That's the Van Dale Ml 4. It
can make your diversified live
stock operation a single system.
Because the Ml 4 can feed up to
four different lots at one feeding.
And, each lot can receive its own
special ration.
The Ml 4 has a massive 14'
trough and is fed by a bearing
suspended 12' auger. It can pro
vide you with up to 200 feet of
feeding and will dump rations on
either the left or right hand side.
Or it can carry feed all the way to
the end of the trough before
dumping.
For mixing concentrated addi
tives, the Ml 4 auger action is
unequaled. It provides consist
ently uniform rations all along the
trough.
Selective feeding of different
feed lots. High capacity feed line.
Uniform feed additive mixing.
