—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 29, 1972 14 Manor FFA Holds Annual Father-Son Banquet Officers elected to serve the Manor FFA Chapter held closing cermonies at the 12th annual Father-Son Banquet last week at Penn Manor High School. New officers are: seated, left to right, Cliff Charles, vice president; Greg Landis, president, and Cattle on Feed Up Nine Per Cent Cattle and calves on feed April 1 for slaughter market totaled 12,792,000 head in the 23 major feeding states, up nine per cent from a year earlier, according to the Crop Reporting Board. Placements of cattle and calves in the 23 states during the January-March 1972 quarter totaled 5,876,000 head, two per cent above placements in the same quarter last year. Marketings of fed catttle during the January-March period of 6,414,000 head were three per cent more than a year earlier. Total marketings during the April-June quarter are expected to be 6,654,000 head, six per cent greater than the same quarter in 1971. Which Bug is the Termite? The banquet was called to order by Dennis Landis, chapter president. Opening ceremonies were held by the Cahpter of ficers. Following recognition of guests by Karl Brandt, the presentation of awards was held. The winners of the FFA Creed contest were: Dennis Landis, first; Jerry Erb, second; Bob Moore, third; Bob Buckwalter, fourth, and Ken Lease, fifth. The FFA foundation awards were presented to the following: Bob Buckwalter, Star Greenhand; Earl Breneman, PHONE 733-2283 Star Chapter Parmer; Greg Landis, Star Red Rose Farmer. Martin Harnish, dairy far ming; Earl Breneman, poultry farming; Dave Gerlach, crop farming; Dave Eckman, livestock judging; Clyde Erb, public speaking and DeKalb award; Jim Charles, outstanding farming program. Martin Harnish, Clyde Erb, and Dennis Landis were awarded the Keystone Farmer Degree. The Keystone Farmer Degree is awarded to the top two per cent of all FFA members in the State.
