Here, a few members of Durfey Resigns Position With Charolais Association William R Durfey, director of performance and research for American-International Charolais Assn , Houston, since 1968, has resigned effective July 1, announced J Scott Henderson, association executive secretary His successor has not been named Durfey guided development of the Charolais Herd Improvement Program—CHIP—through committee action to adoption by the association’s board of directors The program, in effect since the start of 1972, has been described as one of the most complete withm-herd per formance and selection programs devised by any breed association. Durfey also aided development of a progressive artificial in semination program for the Charolais breed, recently enacted by the association’s membership. The program is based upon performance and genetic improvement tools, in cluding testing of sires used in the tour group examine facilities in the bakery warehouse. out-of-herd breeding and progeny test information. During his four years’ duty with the Charolais association, Durfey has become widely known and respected among per formance-oriented producers and scientists. He holds a master’s degree from Texas Tech University in animal reproduction. Management Meeting Scheduled Horse A horse management meeting has been planned for 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at the Farm and Home Center. Keeping horses healthy and properly fed during the spring and summer is an important factor in good horse management. The meeting will bring the latest information concerning these areas.
