Farm Machinery
One of the major farm
machinery manufacturers is
designing a plow for high speed
operation up to 8 miles per
hour. Instead of making the
widths of the plows wider by
adding more bottoms, the design
concentrates around 3 or 4 bot
toms and simple construction
built to stand the loading of an 8

miles per hour plow. A wider
plow has a higher initial in
vestment and operates at slower
speeds. The theory is that by
going to a high speed plowing
rate, costs of plowing per acre
will be reduced and the output
per man-hour will be about the
same. This high speed may fit
some farms, but on hillsides or on

While Wenger’s 67 milking Holsteins represent a relatively
large herd and most of them have never been led, this older
cow is among a few that he entered in judging events in past
years.
