Center. The speakers were: (left) Dr.
Lester A. Burdett, extension animal
scientist at Pennsylvania State University,
and (right) Dr. Samuel Guss, extension
veterinarian at PSU. In his talk Dr. Guss
told about two new safe vaccines for
prevention of shipping fever and IBR, the
two most serious virous diseases affecting

slides, concerned correlating crop ef
ficiency on a farm with maximum beef
production and growth. He discussed
ways of meeting the new requirements for
withdrawal of DES from feed. He also
talked about ways of preventing pollution
from animal waste by good housekeeping,
like diverting waterways from feed lots
and preventing feed lot drainage from
reaching waterways.
