Meets At the recent meeting of the Pennsylvania Egg Marketing Association, Russel Knorr reported that a hand crafted plaque, which he displayed, would be redesigned to be fully as effective but less expensive. Placemats which will be used were distributed. Cards to be used by marketers, salesmen, truck drivers, etc., to cite a restaurant for proper conduct in handling eggs were distributed. When three such cards from one restaurant reach the committee, arrangements for presentation of the plaque will be made. Suggested publicity has been prepared and it is expected that local papers will carry notices and pictures of the presentation. Knorr indicated that a start has been made and now it is up to members to each do his share. Sam Berenson reported that a Maryland meeting will be held on the Phase II of the Egg Products Act. It was stated that if such a meeting is needed in Penn sylvania, arrangements will be made for one, but presently the only arrangements made are for meetings of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture In spectors for instructions in in spections and restricted eggs. The latest on this is that it cannot be accomplished before March It was also reported that the Fowl Disposal Program has bogged down and there is some expectation that the new Congress will not pass the one in its present form. Souders to head a committee to meet with Governor Shapp to appraise him of the need for a continuing marketing program for the industry. Other members on the committee include Earl Hess and Sam Berenson. A 1 Wenger stated that the Cholesterol question has subsided which is good, but the slow down on research is not desirable. Everyone should work on a personal campaign and efforts should be made to stop any possibility of national con ferences on the subject. It was strongly stated that the USDA should be forced to use their resources and knowledge to protect the industry. President Earl Hess introduced some new visitors. Department of Agriculture will not lift some provisions of the Middle Atlantic Federal milk marketing order to provide unlimited diversions of milk to unregulated plants in January and February, as was proposed earlier this month USDA’s Consumer ano Marketing Service said notice of the action, as proposed, was published in the Federal Register January 4, giving until January 7 for filing comments.
