Canned Foods A Good Buy
Canned foods store well on the
cupboard shelf and they are a
convenience. And if you’re
wondering whether to buy dented
cans Extension consumer
specialists at The Pennsylvania
State University offer this ad
vice, A small dent will not likely
be important. But if you find that
a can is dented severely enough
to break the seal, don’t buy it.

Fix-It Tip
Oak, walnut and other
open-grain woods cannot be
made completely smooth
with sanding, nor will var
nish or other, material seal
them completely. These
woods have open pores in the
grain. -These must be filled
before finishing to get a
smooth surface. ,
Use a special paste wood
filler made for this purpose.
Thin so that it is about as
-thick as heavy paint, then
brush across the grain a
small section at a time. As
it dries, rub it in and then
wipe off the excess by wip
ing across the grain.
Advanced Skills. Basic Skills will
be held in West Chester; In
termediate Skills in Paoli and
Advanced Skills in Malvern.
Registration for these courses
will be next month.
There is a small charge for all
courses.
