year at Harrisburg
The Columbia RD2 farm is

Sheep Hill Ranch had both the
grand champion Southdown ram
and ewe.
Sheep Hill Ranch also showed
the first place animal in seven of
10 classes The first were in the
following classes- Ram Under 1
Year (first and second), Three
Ram Lambs Owned by Exhibitor,
Ewe Under 1 Year (first and
second), Three Ewe Lambs
Owned by Exhibitor, Breeder’s
Young Flock, Pen of Lambs, Get
of Sire.

Steven Chronister, Windsor
RDI, York County, showed the
grand champion ewe and reserve

Suffolk breed
In addition, Chronister was
first in seven of 10 classes. Firsts
were in the following classes;
Ram Under 1 Year, Ewe 1 Year
and Under, Three Ewe Lambs
Owned by Exhibitor, Breeder’s
Young Flock, Pen of Lambs,
Flock, and Get of Sire He was
also third and -fourth in the Ewe
Under 1 Year class.

While these rural problems are not
foreign to Southeastern Pennsylvania, they
are most characteristic of the rest of the
state, including Secretary McHale’s own
Crawford County
We suggest that these problems will not
be helped—but will be greatly aggravated
and perhaps spread to larger areas—by
bringing pressureston profit margins m the
Pennsylvania dairy industry
Any program to rebuild rural Penn
sylvania should start with the preservation
of the sound agricultural base which
already exists
