S Department of Agriculture if they agree to permit free public access to their land for hunting, fishing, hiking or trapping Five counties in each of the following States will offer the program in 1972- Colorado, In diana, lowa, Louisiana, Michigan, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn sylvania and South Carolina Authority for public access payments on farms participating in the set-aside programs, for wheat, feed gram and cotton is provided in the Agricultural Act of 1970 USDA’s Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, which administers the set-aside programs through its State and County ASC Com mittees, will be in charge of the public access portion State ASC Committees, in consultation with the State wildlife management agencies in the 10 participating States, will select the counties where the program will be of fered Counties will vary in proximity to urban centers Other criteria will be number of farms participating in the set aside programs, suitability of land on eligible farms, need for public access and similar factors. To be eligible for a public ac cess agreement, a farm must be participating in the 1972 set-aside program and have eligible recreation land Producers in the designated counties who wish to participate in the program need to file a request in early 1972 with Farm Show Brief The poultry show at the 1972 Pennsylvania Farm Show will be one of the five largest such events m the nation About 2,000 birds will be shown their county ASC committee. Designated counties, dates of the enrollment period and other program details will be an nounced as soon as possible. Nationally, the payments for Livestock Judging Starts January 9 With Sheep Judging of three breeds of sheep on Sunday afternoon, January 9, will open the livestock judging at the 1972 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg January 10-14 The Suffolk, Cheviot and South down breeds will be judged on setting the pace m the industry.
