—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, January 8, 1972 30 19 Lancaster County FFA Youths to Receive Keystone Degree Among 19 Lancaster County FFA members to receive the coveted Keystone Farmer Degree at the annual winter convention in Harrisburg during Farm Show Week will be two Solanco FFA Chapter brothers and a Penn Manor Chapter youth who is the fifth in his family to receive the award The brothers receiving the award are Clyde and Kenneth Dearolf, New Providence RDI. Kenneth graduated from Solanco High School in 1970 and Clyde is a senior there. Meanwhile, Clyde Erb will be the fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel S Erb, Columbia RD2, to receive the Keystone award. Clyde’s brothers who received the award and the year are as follows: Dan, 1965; Dave, 1966; Clair, 1968; and Carl, 1970. Only one FFA member in 50 in Pennsylvania is eligible for the Keystone degree. He was first place individual in the 1970 Rural Youth contest at Solanco Fair. His goal is to become a suc cessful farmer. Clyde Erb Penn Manor Chapter Clyde Erb, son of Mr and Mrs. Daniel S. Erb, Columbia RD2, is the fifth boy in his family to become a Keystone Farmer. A member of the Penn Manor FFA Chapter, Clyde is serving as sentinel and had previously served as secretary of junior agriculture club as a freshman. Erb was a contestant in the public speaking contest and was a member of the State poultry judging team. He previously was named Star Farmer, and received the Red Rose Degree. Rick Pfautz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Pfautz, Stevens RDI, is a 12th grade member of the Cloister FFA and holds the of* fices of Chapter president and County FFA secretary. His farming program includes 10 breeding swine, six fattening swine, one acre of sweet corn, two acres of field corn and one fourth acre of sugar peas. Rick has exhibited his animals at local and state livestock shows winning numerous awards. He has won two gold medals in Dairy Products and Livestock judging at the State FFA Convention held at Penn State. He then went on to win a silver medal in Dairy Products Judging at the National FFA Convention at Kansas City, Mo. This past October Rick won a bronze medal in Livestock judging at the National FFA Convention at Kansas City, Mo. Rick is also active m com munity activities. Musser, Mohnton RD2, He is a member of the Grassland FFA Chapter. In 1969 Carl’s brother Roy received the Keystone Farmer Degree. Carl has served as chairman of the community service com mittee, chairman of the conduct of meeting committee, as well as chairman of the New Holland Farm Show float committee. He has attended the National FFA Convention in Kansas City. For his farming program, Carl has had show sheep and swine. He has been a recipient of the New Holland Jaycee’s sheep and swine awards.
