close, closing prices slaughter
steers and heifers 25 -50 c higher.
Cows strong to 25c higher and
bulls strong to 50c higher. Small
feeder supply fully steady.
Four day receipts 16,100 as
compared 14,600 previous week
and 13,300 a year ago. Slaughter
steers approximately 44 per cent,
heifers 34 per cent, fairly liberal
percentage Choice and moderate
volume High-Choice and Prime.
Cows 13 per cent, and feeders less
than five per cent. Monday
supply of normal proportions and
prices on slaughter steers and
heifers forced downward as a
consequence of sharply lower
carcass trade forepart of week.
■ Early declines more than
recovered in later trading,
however as marketings sharply
curtailed and buyers forced to
compete aggressively for
numbers on short supply. By
midweek, trading on carcass beef
again pointed upward and
provided stimulation for live
trade.

As compared to previous weeks
close, slaughter steer prices
declined on Monday,

Trading was rather slow on
