For only the second time in
eight weeks fed cattle prices
pointed downward in reflection of
sharply lower prices on carcass
beef at the wholesale level. While
local marketings were reduced
from the previous week they
were quite poorly distributed
over the trading period with some
47 per cent of the four day total
arriving on Monday. The overall
finish was less attractive than
previous week with large per
centage Good to Average-Choice.
In addition, mud was a major
problem and was often a primary
price determing factor.
Average cost slaughter steers
first three days 33.27, average
weight 1091 pounds, as compared
33.89 and 1122 pounds previous
week and 26.22 and 1133 pounds a
year ago.
