    Pa. Holstein Assn. Honors Many Local Persons
Several local farmers and farm
youth were among those honored
last week at the Pennsylvania
Holstein Association annual
convention in Altoona.
The herd of Clarence Stauifer,
Ephrata, was among five herds
recognized for high classification
average and body conformation.
Receiving recognition for
leading lactation averages for
production achievements were-
J. Mowery Frey Jr, Lancaster,
Sinking Springs Farms, Inc,
York, and Paul B Zimmerman,
Ephrata
Recognized for receiving All-
American honors for show ring
winnings during the 1970 season
were: J. Mowery Frey Jr,
Lancaster, George M. Knight Jr,
Airville; Hubert S. Miller,
Myerstown, and Raymond A.
Seidel, Richland.
The Lancaster County Holstein
Breeders Association received a
membership service award for
having the most new members.
The Lancaster County

In the three year and under
four year class, P Carl Yoder,
Elverson, Chester County, was
second in milk production with
21,947 pounds of milk from his
Rocky-Side Star June.

placing high in the four year old

milk and third in butterfat with
24,270 pounds of milk and 872
pounds of butterfat from Welsh
Springs Golden Violet, Carol
Yoder Elverson, third in milk
with 2.1,840 pounds from Rocky
Side Beauty, and Susan J.
Weaver, Glenmoore, fifth in
butterfat with 771 pounds, from
Marsh Acres Piney Empress.
In his President’s Address,
George Bndenbaugh reported
fiscal year achievements of a
record high State Membership of
4,905, putting Pennsylvania first
in the nation.
Also, Pennsylvania firsts on the
national level include Holstein
registrations at 48,822, transfers
at 26,386, and active national
members at 4,715
