The theme of the show and tell type meeting was “My Most Cherished Possession” Members brought in and told stones about such cherished possessions as a handcarved cane belonging to the grand father of Mrs. Daniel Will; a 140 year-old lusterware pitcher; a tea pot from which Mrs. Wilbur Kauffman was fed sage tea for a fever cure, to handmade tablecloths, books, jewelry and silver. Mrs Luke Brandt was in charge of devotions. Mrs. Robert Garber, president, conducted the meeting Miss Sara Reapsome, grand aughter of member Mrs. Willis Reapsome, presented piano selections during the program Mrs Maud Mohler was elected secretary and Mrs Cyrus Gamble was re-elected treasurer Continuing in office are Mrs Garber, president; Mrs Brandt, vice president, and Mrs Reapsome, corresponding secretary Delegates to the state con vention in January are Mrs. Elmer Schroll and Mrs Mary Snyder Mrs John Melhnger is alternate Mrs Will was named to represent Society 4 as a can didate in the Farm Woman of the Year Contest A “loving offering” was collected and forwarded to the Flora Black Memorial Scholarship Fund. This gift is in addition to the 10 cents collected from each member Society 9 Farm Women Society 9 held a workday meeting in Coleman ville United Methodist Church. Fifty-seven bed pads were made by members for the American Cancer Society Members also collected $45 in cash and 26 articles of clothing for the Needlework Guild Ingathering Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs Clarence Carter, Mrs William Gnng and Miss Clara Gardner Mrs Paul Zercher was in charge of devotions Mrs. J. At this meeting, members will pack Thanksgiving baskets for shut ins and finalize plans for a Christmas party. Sodety 12 Farm Women Society 12 met recently in Millersville with Mrs. Glenn Railing serving as hostess. Assisting were Mrs. Edwin Rmeer and Mrs. Andrew Failing. Mrs. George Kneisley was in charge of devotions. Mrs. Richard Lefever, Buck, member of Farm Women Society 17, presented a candy making demonstration during the meeting Mrs. LeMar Henry, president, reminded members to prepare an item for the bazaar table at the County Convention to be held November 6 at the Farm and Home Center. A gift of $lO was approved to the United Fund Mrs Paul Harnish was elected secretary and Mrs. John Kendig was re-elected treasurer. Remaining in office for 1972 are Mrs Henry, president, and Mrs. John Sangrey, vice president. Reservations for a family banquet planned for 6-30 pm. November 13 in the Millersville Fire Hall must be made with Mrs Donald Ldwnsbery, Conestoga, by November 5. Society 15 Society of Farm Women 15 met recently at Wesley United Methodist Church, Quanyville .RD2. Hostesses were Mrs, Melvin Boyce Jr, Mrs. Amos Rutt, Mrs. Carl Johnson Sr, and Mrs. Melvin Boyce Sr. Mrs. Boyce Jr. led devotions. Mrs. J. Leigh Walton, president, was in charge of the meeting. The group voted a $5O donation for uniforms for the Solanco Senior Band. The program centered on Safety with the president in charge Members participated in a continuing story on Halloween. Society 19 Farm Women Society 19 celebrated its 25th anniversary recently with a luncheon at the Conestoga Sheraton Motor Inn. Mrs. Kenneth Warfel, president, was in charge *l6 John Kraft, curator of the Ephrata Cloister, gave an illustrated talk during the program portion of the meeting. Members took a trip to Harrisburg as part of their silver anniversary celebration. They toured various buildings and museums. The Society was entertained by members of Society 7 during a luncheon at the Quarryville Methodist Church on Thursday, October 28. Society 19 will sponsor a bazaar and demonstration table at the Homemaker’s Day at the Farm and Home Center on December 7. Members also voted to donate $lO to the Needlework Guild and $5O to the child Development Center. Mrs. Isaac Miller was selected to represent the group in the Farm Woman of the Year Con test. Mrs. Earl Stauffer, 2021 Edgemont Drive, East Peter sburg, is ih charge of the Society’s candy sale now m progress. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Daniel Rohrer, Jr, Manheim RDI. A cooking and recipe sale and also a gift wrapping demonstration will be given by Mrs. Martin Swarr. Mrs. Richard Jackson and Mrs. Robert Rohrer were cohostesses. Mrs Meek led devotions. A lecture-demonstration on the making of decorations from corn husks was presented by Mrs. John N. Hess, president of Society of Farm Women of Lancaster County, and Mrs. J. Richards Woods, president of Society 22. Mrs. Rohrer was named the Society’s Farm Woman of the Year. She will compete in the County Contest at the County Convention November 6. Mrs. Clair DeLong reported on a visit to Conestoga View on October 21. Mrs. Frank Aument and Mrs. Meek were appointed to the nominating committee to prepare a slate of officers for 1972-73. The next meeting will be a covered dish supper and a “come as you are” party at 6:45 p.m. on November 18 at the home of Mrs. Charles Tindall Jr, Peach Bot tom.
