Omaha Cattle Thursday, October 14 Compared with last weeks close closing prices slaughter steers steady to 25c lower, many late sales Choice steady to weak. Heifers strong to 25c higher under good demand. Cows fully steady although late demand not particularly aggres sive. Bulls firm. Feeder cattle and calves steady to weak with limited attendance farmer buy ers early. Four day receipts 20,200 as compared 19,100 previous week and 23,000 a year ago. Slaugh ter steers approximately 36 per cent, heifers 32 percent, cows 9 percent, and feeders 20 per cent. Two-way trend emerges in fed cattle trade as prices on slaughter steers forced slightly downward under influence of bearish early carcass trade but heifer prices edged cautiously upward. Marketings fairly well distri buted over trading period and good demand for cattle to be slaughtered at points outside immediate Omaha area. Overall finish fairly attractive with a liberal percentage Choice and a moderate volume High Choice and Prime.
