Omaha Cattle Thursday, September 23 Compared with last weeks close closing prices on slaughter steers were steady, instances strong to 25c higher on high choice and prime late. Heifers closed 25c higher. Cows were 25- 50c higher and bulls steady. Feeder cattle and calves brought fully steady prices. Four day receipts 19,800 as compared 21,400 previous week and 24,300 a year ago. Slaughter steers and heifers made up ap proximately 75 percent of sup ply, about equally divided. Cows 10 percent, and feeders 12 per cent. Steer supply predominantly good to average-choice 1000-1150 lbs forepart of week but num erous loads high-choice ' and prime steers and heifers includ ed on lowa T-bone special for Thursday trade. Overall finish of heifers fairly attractive with liberal percentage choice and moderate volume high-choice and prime during week. Fed cattle trade Showed considerable stability as prices on carcass beef at the wholesale _ level showed little net change. Average cost slaughter steers first three days 31.93 average weight 1081 lbs as compared 32.32 and 1094 lbs previous week and 28.77 and 1090 lbs a year ago.
