United Campaign to Start Mon.
Lancaster County will open its
annual United Campaign Monday
morning (September 27) with a
goal of $1,690,409-- and a happy
face.
The goal shows a bare increase
of 1.45 per cent over last year’s
drive, and the happy face is the
symbol of the Campaign slogan:
“Let the Sunshine "In.”
Paul A. Mueller Jr, general
chairman, said the slogan applies
to the thousands of recipients of
the 37 United Way serves, or to
any of the 5,000 volunteers in
volved in the 1971 United Cam
paign, or to the workman - and
resident- donors throughout the
county. “Any of these groups can
feel the sunshine,” he said.
The drive, opening Monday and
closing October 29, provides the
life-line of support to the service
agencies, some of whom charge
fees for certain services or
membership fees to supplement
the United Campaign budget
figures. In every case, however,
Campaign officials emphasized,
the service is provided without
cost if the person involved cannot
pay.
