fall fertilizer
Extensive research has demonstrated that where losses
of fall-applied nitrogen have occurred in fields suitable
for fall plowdown (that is, other than sandy soils, steep
slopes, land that floods, or organic soils), the maximum
loss has been less than 20%
If your young growing corn in the fields
where you have followed the Ortho "Green 'n Easy"
program shows nitrogen deficiency next spring, we'll
correct the deficiency by giving you free enough
nitrogen to equal 20% of that which you applied as Uni
pels this fall
So, protect your fall fertilizing investment
this year with a "Green 'n Easy"fall plowdown program

Compared with last weeks
close closing prices on slaughter
steers were 25-50 C lower, the
least decline on high-choice and
prime 1150-1300 lb steers Heif
ers closed 75-1 00 lower Cows
were 50-75 c higher and bulls
steady. A somewhat expanded
feeder supply brought fully
steady prices.
Four day receipts 21,700 as
compared 15,400 previous holi
day week and 23,300 a year ago.
Slaughter steers approximately
36 percent of four day supply,
heifers 41 percent, cows 10 per
cent, and feeders 10 percent.
Fed cattle prices were forced
downward by a bearish declining
trade on carcass beef at whole
sale level as slaughter under
federal inspection continued to
run at near a record level and
well above a year ago. Buyers
were cautious and selective as
they sought to maintain an ac
ceptable, ratio between current
live prices and carcass realiza
tions. Fairly liberal showing
choice steers and heifers, but
high-choice and prime relatively
scarce with well finished steers
over 1250 lbs a rarity.
Average cost slaughter steers
first three days 32.31 average
weight 1093 lbs as compared
32.44 and 1088 lbs previous week
and 29.19 and 1091 lbs a year
ago.
