Farm Women Society 23 met
recently in the home of Mrs.
Barbara Nissley, Washington
Boro RDI.
The Society voted $25 each
to the County Project, Child
Development Center; the State
Farm Women Scholarship
Fund, and to the Nutritional
Program administered by the
County Agricultural Extension
office. A gift of $lO was sent to
the Mental Health Association.
Mrs. John Newswanger was in
charge of devotions Mrs. Ro
bert Rohrer, president, was in
charge of the meeting
Mrs. Glenn Burkholder will
represent Society 23 in the Lan
caster County Farm Woman of
the Year contest.
Plans were made for a re
freshment stand to be held at
the Hoffmaster Household Sale
in Columbia on Sept 11. Mrs
Edgar Funk is in charge. Mrs
Lester Newcomer was named
chairman of the sunshine com
mittee.
The next meeting will be held
at Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill on
Thursday, Sept 23, at 1:30 pra
Mrs. Jay Oberholtzer will
demonstrate flower arrange
ments. Society 31 will be guests.
Mrs. Jay Charles is in charge of
plans and will serve as hostess.
Society 29
Farm Women Society, 29 met
iccently at the home of Mrs.
Richard Garber, Elizabethtown,
with members of Society 2
guests at the meeting. Assisting
hostesses were Mrs Joe Russell
111 and Mrs. Clayton Ranck.
The Rev. Dean Bult, New
York state, spoke briefly on
keeping children out of trouble.
He was formerly associated with
Teen Encounter, York
During the business portion of
the meeting, members voted ap
proval of a $25 donation to the

ness, plans were made to enter
tain the Alpha Club at the
YWCA on Sept. 24.
Members will hold a square
dance Sept. 11 at 8 pm. at the
farm of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Nissley, Bainbridge RDI. The
dance is open to the public. In
formation on the event may be
obtained by contacting Mrs.
Jack Garner, Mount Joy RDI.
Next regular meeting of the
group will be held Sept. 21 at
the Union School House, Eliza
bethtown. School days will be
the theme of the meeting.
Society 28
Farm Women Society 28 held
election of officers at a recent
meeting at the home of Mrs
Jay Groff, Bird-in-Hand RDI
Mrs. Bare was cohostess.
Mrs. William Dean, president,
was in charge of the business
meeting. Mrs. Roy Book gave
devotions.
Mrs. J. Robert Hess was elect
ed president. Serving with her
will be Mrs. Harold Rohrer, vice
president; Mrs. Jacob Bare,
secretary, and Mrs. Elvin Hess
Jr, treasurer. The new officers
will assume duties in January,
1972.
The program featured a 4-H
night with a fashion show,
special music and a demonstra
tion.
The next meeting will be held
at 7:30 p.m. September 14 in
the Farm and Home Center
with Society 4 as guests. The
Rev. Elwood Mehle will present
a sound and light chalk pro
gram.
Society 11
Farm Women Society 11 cele
brated their 45th anniversary
with a dinner at Willow Valley
Restaurant.
During the program, a book re
view was given by Mrs. Lois
Stauffer.
Three charter members at
tended Each past president in
attendance gave highlights of
their terra of office.
Mrs. Esther Musser, president,
conducted the meeting. She an
nounced Nan Wiley, the Intelli
gencer Journal’s columnist, will
be speaker at a meeting on Oct.
1 at Centerville School. Any
Society president may be con
tacted for tickets.
The next meeting will be held
in the Community Building at
Mechanic Grove on Sept 30

Farm Women Society 27 met
recently at the home of Mrs
Wilbur Erb, Mount Joy RDI
Highhght of the evening was
a white elephant sale sponsored
by the ways and means commit
tee Serving as auctioneer was
Arthur Wenger
A donation of $25 was voted
to the new Nutritional Training
Fund set up by the Farm and
Home Center.
Tickets are available for the
October 1 evening session with
well known newspaper food
columnist Nan Wiley
The September 28 meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs
Sam Hememan 111, Marietta
EDI. Feature for the meeting
will be workshops on dried and
pressed flowers.

Farm Women Society 5 met
Saturday, August 28 at the home
of Mrs Paul Stern, Manheim.
Mrs Stern led the group in a
devotional period
Mrs. Hiram Graybill, presi
dent, presided over the business
meeting. Mrs Wilber Hostetter
led the group in singing
Donations were given to the
Scholarship Fund of Lancaster
County and to the Extension
"Workers for Nutritional Educa
tion.
A food stand is planned for
the household sale of Mrs. Polly
Hummer, Manheim, on October

narrated a series of slides for
the afternoons program

will be at 1:30 p m September
25 at the home of Mrs Anna
Spahr, East Petersburg

The 1971 Fall meeting of the
Poultry and Egg National Board
will be held October 26 and 27
at the Ramada Inn near O’Hare
Airport, Chicago, announces
Board Chairman Mai Cleland
The 32nd Annual Meeting is
to be held April 25, 26 and 27,
1972, at the newly completed
Regency-Hyatt House, also near
O’Hare Airport.
