Hosts Tennessee Group The Lancaster County Farmers Association recently hosted a group of 36 young farmers and homemakers from throughout Tennessee. The Tennessee group was on a week-long tour of historical and farm .points of interest in the Eastern U. S. The stops in cludes Gettysburg, Williamsburg, Washington, D. C., and New York City. While in Lancaster County, the group was hosted by the Lan caster County Farmers Associa tion. The group was met the after noon of July 22 at the Sheraton Motor Inn, Route 222 north of Lancaster, where the group was staying, by Mr and Mrs. James Kreider, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Mentzer, and Mrs. Jesse Wood. The local group conducted a tour of the New Holland area, including the Moses Stoltzfus ice cieam farm, the Kitchen Kettle at Intercourse, ending at the Ellis Mentzer farm, New Holland RD2. During the drive, points oi interest and farming prac tices were pointed out. After the tour the visitors ■were met at the Sheraton by nine local families, who took the visitors in groups of four to their homes for supper and visiting The nine host families were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Newcomer, Washington Boro RDI; Mrs, Helen Wivell and Mrs. Lewis Bixler, at Mrs. Wivell’s home, Columbia RDI; Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Mentzer, New Holland RD2; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hostet- ter, Manheim RD2; Mr and Mrs. Jesse Balmer, Lititz RD4; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Spayd, Quarry ville RDI; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hershey, Manheim RD2; Mr. and Mrs. James Kreider, Quarry ville RDI, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wood, Nottingham RD2. Farmers Have Picnic The Lancaster County Farmers Association has reported a suc cessful annual picnic last Satur day at the Lampeter Fair Grounds. About 550 person at tended. Prizes were given and numer ous games were played by both children and older persons. Among visitors were State Senator Clarence Manbeck and State Representatives Sherman Hill and Harry Gring and their wives.
