Saturday, July 31,1971 14 Conservation Day Features Plowing, Traitor, Land Contests, Pig Chase An adult plowing contest, a 4-H tractor driving contest, an FFA land judging contest and a pig chase were among the high lights of the annual Lancaster County Soil and Water Conser vation District field day Tuesday at the Roy Book farm, Ronks RDI. Three winners in the plowing contest who will qualify for state competition were Frank Burkhart, 1030 Silver Spring Road, Lancaster, a repeat win ner in the small plow contest. They joined 25 other 4-Her’s from Lancaster County for the annual 4-H exchange trip. They had one stop in Wil liamsburg, Virginia. Attending in the Junior Paoli Girl Chosen to Attend AIC Jennifer Riggs, 437 Hilltop Road, Paoli, has been named as one of the Commonwealth’s outstanding youth leaders to at tend the 1971 meeting of the American Institute of Coopera tion August 1-4 at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. The Institute brings together the nations outstanding youth leaders, young adults, and busi ness leaders to learn more about citizenship leadership and the principles of the Free En terprise System. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Riggs, Jennifer was selected to attend this event by business leaders in Pennsylvania and from Pennsylvania State Uni-" versity and State Department of Education based on her leadership at PAFC Penn- Robert Gerhart, New Providence RDI, sixth. Richard Groff, 37 Quarry Road, Leola, caught the greased Pig. It was a hot day and the pig wasn’t very energetic. The pig slipped out of the grip of a couple of first group of about eight youths who pounced on him, then the pig was grab bed by Groff around the middle.
