Island August 3 is a sell-out, but
persons interested in attending
should register their names in
event of cancellations accord

As of Wednesday night, there
were 47 persons signed up, ex
actly enough to fill the bus,
with no one on the standby list.

East Earl RDI Youth to Attend Colorado Meeting
Nelson Martin, East Earl
RDI, is one of two youths
selected to represent Pennsyl
vania in the American Institute
of Cooperation annual meeting
at Colorado State University
August 1-4.
Their selection climaxed the
five-day summer institute of
the Pennsylvania Association of
Farmer Cooperatives recently
at Shippensburg State College.
Hal F. Doran, Penn State Uni
versity associate professor of ag
economics Extension, said the
two will receive expense-paid
trips to the Colorado event.
They were selected on the basis
of a report covering local activi
ties, a competitive quiz, and
participation in events at the
institute.
Selected with Martin ' was
Miss Joane Stambaugh, York
RD2, who will be the state 4-H
representative in Colorado.
Martin will be the state FFA
delegate.
At the Colorado State Uni
versity convention, the two will
take part in various programs
designed to increase their
knowledge of farmer coopera
tives and agribusiness. They
will join with 900 young agri-

councils, and the Penn State
College of Agriculture.
The 4-H delegate, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stam
baugh, will be representing the
York Cooperative Council.
A 4-H member eight years,
Joane served as president and
teen leader of her local club.

Specialists Study
Waste Systems
Penn State University poul
try specialists were in Lancas
ter County Thursday to begin a
study of types of waste systems
used with local laying opera
tions.
The study is statewide and in
volves an economic analysis' of
the systems, including amounts
of labor ami equipment neces
sary in each system.
The poultry specialists will be
in Lancaster County next week
to .visit individual farms to col- ‘
lect data. The work is being
done with the farmer’s coopera--
tion.
