Members were reminded of the covered dish picnic to be held for County Farm Women at the Central Manor Camp Grove August 4 with each per son bringing a covered dish and place settings for all family members attending. The next meeting will be held August 16 at the home of Mrs. Richard Garber, Elizabethtown RDI, when Society 29 will enter tain Society 2 members. Society 4 Farm Women Society 4 ap proved a dontion of $5O for the County Project of Farm Women, the Child Development Center. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs Peter Alecxah, Herr Fruit Farms, Lancaster RD2, with Mrs. Robert Herr as hostess. Special music, both vocal and instrumental, was provided by the Alecxih children and friends. Mrs. Ira Frantz was in charge of devotions. Mrs. Russell Becktel, Mount ville, spoke on “The Art of Rub bing Brass.” Mrs. Robert Gar ber, president, was in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Charles Newcomer, Mountville, was elected to mem bership and will be installed at the August meeting. Mrs. Ed win Yeaglin is membership chairman. Recommendations for changes of the local by-laws of Society 4 were discussed and edited. They will be officially filed at a future meeting. ; There are several reservations available for the bus excursion to Ocean City, N.J., on July 27. Mrs. Robert Brubaker, 125 Pros pect Rd., Salunga, and Mrs. Carl Siegrist. Columbia RD2, are in charge of reservations. The bus will leave Lancaster Shopping Center, Lititz Pike, at 5:45 a.m. Return is scheduled from Ocean City at 6:30 p.m. A miscellaneous auction witn Mrs. Daniel Will acting as auc tioneer was held. An outdoor meeting is planned at 1:30 p.m. July 24. in Hemp field Hill Park when a covered dish picnic luncheon will be fea tured. Mrs. Elmer Schroll will be in charge of games . Society 6 Society of Farm Women 6 held a safety program at the home of Mrs. Harry G. Shonk, Manheim RD2. The guest speak er was Trooper Edward Row lands, Troop J. Lancaster Det., Pennsylvania State Police His topic was on preventative measures for protection to wom en, in which he gave practical suggestions on how to handle the situation if accosted. Assisting Mrs. Shonk as co hostesses were Mrs. Leroy Dale and Mrs. Margaret Bowers. Mrs Sarah Holsberg was in charge of devotions and Mrs. Milton Eber ly, president, was in charge of the business session. A report was given of the sewing project at the State Hos pital at Harrisburg which took place in June with nine members volunteering. The County officers will be guests at a covered dish picnic planned for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Milton Grove Sportsmen Club. Society 7 Farm Women Society 7 was entertained recently at Christ’s Home, Paradise. Mrs. Edward Jerchau spoke to the group about the home followed by a tour of the facilities. Society 9 Farm Women Society 9 held a covered dish style family picnic at the home of Mrs. Helen Huber, Marticville. Forty mem bers of the Society and their families attended. Mrs. Edward Brenneman re minded members of the County Picnic to be held Aug. 4 at the Central Manor Camp meeting grove. This will replace the August meeting for Society 9.
