Schneck is a native of Lehigh County He is moving to Lan caster County from Hickory Corners, where he was a manager of the Dalmatia store. Harnish is a native of Lancas ter County. Harnish and Schneck have a combined history of 60 years serving farmers’ needs. Hiestand joined Agway about a year ago Mark Hess and Schneck has had 18 years service with Agway Harnish is bringing to the Salunga area those programs Wilbur Hiestand that he, other local farmers, and Agway have developed through out his 10 years experience with Agway His past experience as a successful local dairyman have given him the practical applica tion of new programs as they de velop , Hess, a Lancaster County native, owns a farm which has been in the family since the original purchase from the Wil liam Penn Land Grant in 1754 He started the Tobacco Market ing Operation in 1963 and is still active in this Agway service In addition to Salunga, Hess has management responsibilities that includes Agway stores in New Holland, Quarryville, Lan caster and Willow Street Cigar Week Declared Governor Milton J Shapp has declared October 18 to 24 Cigar Week in Pennsylvania Shapp noted that 55 per cent of all cigars manufactured m the U S are manufactured in Penn sylvania and over 48 per cent of the nation’s cigar leaf tobacco is grown in Pennsylvania In addi tion, the cigar industry employs lens of thousands of manufac turers, growers, wholesalers, re tailers, and related suppliers Cigar tobacco growing and manufacturing have been carried on in Pennsylvania since colonial times 9
