32—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, May 29,1971 Society 4 Miss Mary Rose and her “Mit ten People” were guests at the Mother and Daughter Tea held by Society of Faim Women 4 in the social room of the Mount ville Church of the Brethren The meeting hosted by Mrs Luke Brandt and Mrs Harold Miller, was attended by about 50 mothers, daughters and granddaughters Mrs Mary Snyder was in charge of devo tions. Mrs John P Gingrich led the group in songs with Mrs Edith Musser as accompanist Mr. Robert Garber conauct-J the business meeting when a membership in the Mental Health Association of Lancaster County was purchased. Society 4 will present an award to a 1971 graduating student at Hempfield High School excell ing in the area of general home making. Society 4 members will serve refreshments and entertain groups meeting at the YWCA who have experienced mental illness in cooperation with the Alpha Club. Society 8 Farm Women Society 8 met on the afternoon of May 22 at the home of Mrs Lewis Bixler, Marietta RDI, with 32 members and four visitors present. The meeting was in charge of Mrs Lloyd Derr, serving as presi dent Mrs Derr replaces Mrs Charles Felty who resigned from this position. Mrs. Elias Musser led the group in singing Mrs Warren Heisey was in charge of devo tions, reading several short poems followed by scripture reading Miss Mary Grace Martin, sec retary, gave the report of the April meeting A unanimous de cision was made appointing Miss Anna Mae Eby to serve as vice president A donation of $65 was reported toward travel ing expenses for the Ranck family from South America to return home for the funeral of Mrs Ranck's father, Clyde Wi vell The amount of $lO was given to the 4-H Walk-a-Thon The speaker for the afternoon FARM TIRE SERVICE SWEIGART FIRESTONE Women was Edwin Myers from Sch wenksville, Montgomery Coun ty, who works as a forestry en gineer Myers showed slides of trees around homes in different areas, and gave helpful infor mation concerning trees in gen eral. Serving as hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Lewis Bix ler, Mrs. Clyde Wivell, Mrs. William Endslow, Mrs. Isabel Endslow and Mrs. Lizzie Keen er. The June meeting will be held at the Clinton Eby cottage the afternoon of June 15. Mem bers are asked to bring a cover ed dish and place setting Those planning to attend will meet at the United Methodist Church. Society of Farm Women 9 saw a demonstration of flower arrangements by a member, Mrs. Kenneth Eshelman, at a meeting held in the home of Mrs. Marguerite Kreider, Con estoga Center. Assisting hos tesses were Mrs Helen Camp bell, Mrs Mary Bnnley and Mrs. Margaret Hagen.
