ferent emotions, such as sorrow,
■joy, and anger And children
need to be exposed to all of
them
Children need to see then
parents cry so they know that
it is all right to expiess their
feelings toward grief in this
way Children need to hear
words spoken in disagreement
so they can see that anger can
be talked out and solved Also,
they need to see their parents
laugh together so that they can
see an expression of joy
Children need to see their
parents as they honestly are
and not as they might pretend
to be, reminds Van Horn.
Hiding your anger to have a
private quarrel when children
are not around is depriving
them of knowing the real you
Suppressing anger this way
may end up with you striking
out at a child the person
you’re trying to protect.
Let yoqr children witness
some of your disagreements
with your spouse, suggests Van
Horn.
A healthy discussion is one
way to solve a problem. Child
ren can see that each parent
can have his own opinion but
can reach "a solution which if
agreeable to both
