The delegates selected to rep
resent Chester County’s 1,400
4H members in this statewide
event are W Hosea Latschaw,
son of Mr and Mrs. Walter Lat
shaw, Spring City, Jennifer
Riggs, daughter of Mr and Mrs.
William Riggs, Paoli, and Nancy
Wollaston, daughter o£ Mr and
Mrs Charles Wollaston, Tough
kenamon.
While in Harrisburg, they will
meet with government officials,
observe the Senate and House of
Representatives in session, and
tour the State Capital and Wil
liam Penn Memonal Museum,
according to John H Schwartz,
assistant Chester County agri
cultural agent
The representatives of the
county delegation will be their
guests at a special breakfast on
April 20 At this function the
4-H members and legislators will
discuss current pioblems and
concerns
This state event is sponsored
by Pennsylvania State Univer
sity Cooperative Extension Ser
vice and is part of its youth
citizenship program.
Guernsey 4-H Calf Club
The Lancaster County Guern
sey Calf Club held its meeting
April 13 at the home of Margaret
Shope

ed how to trim an animal’s feet
before show time
The meeting was called to or
der by President Allen Crider.
Devotions were led by leader
Fred Crider. Secretary Joyce
Groft had roll call Each mem
ber gave a progress report on
his or her animal.
Two new members received
into the club are Tom and Mary
Kirk.
John Landis gave $5 to the
club treasury.
Arrangements are being made
for the group to visit New Bol
ton Center in the near future.
The following members have
volunteered to participate in the
4-H Walk-A-Thon for retarded
children. They are Vernon
Preston, John Bitler, Betty Cri
der, Allen Crider, Rick Crider,
Debbie Crider and Diane Crider.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Dave Bitler.
There will be a judging class.
After the meeting adjourned,
an auction was held. The auc
tioneers were Dave Bitler, Allen
Crider, Rick Crider and Mark
Witmer It was a great success
and enjoyed by all Refresh
ments were served afterward.

Pa. Plow Contest
Set September 1
The Rock Springs Agricultural
Research Center of Pennsylvania
State University has been select
ed as the site for the 1971 State
Plowing Contest, it was an
nounced recently by Charles
Slaton, general chairman
Slaton, a member of the U S.
Soil Conservation Service staff.
Harrisburg, said the plowing
matches will be held September
1 as part of the 1971 Agricultural
Pi ogress Days scheduled for
August 31-September 1 and 2 at
the 1,800-acre Penn State re
search complex
Plowmen will be eligible to en
ter three divisions this year.
These are small plow, level land;
luge plow, level land, and con
tour Contestants must be de
clared winners of county elimina
tions prior to entering state com
