The typing of these 400 or more recipes, which were all contributed by the Society mem bers, was done by Mrs. Henry Hess This cookbook is unique in that it has approximately 250 illustrations which were done by Mrs. Paul Witmer, Mrs. Carl Diller, Mrs C. Mrs Herr and her committe are justly proud of this work of ait. Mrs. Herr served on the Lan caster County Extension board for a three year term about five years ago Herrs are active members of the Pequea Brethren in Christ Church where Lloyd is a trustee and treasurer of the Cemetery Fund. He served 25 years as secietary of the Sunday School Mrs. Herr teaches the kinder garten class in the Sunday School and helped organize the Ladies Fallowing m January, 1971 Their purpose is to get all the church ladies togethei for fel lowship away from home duties four times a year. They have a Mother and Daughter banquet planned for June. In September, Darlene will demonstrate mak ing pines cones and nut trees for Christmas In Dectember, they will have a Christmas party, re laxing with games and singing Christmas carols. His bed room is furnished with some beautiful antique furniture that has been in the family many years. Among his antiques are a valuable bowl and pitcher set, cigar molds, butter molds, churns guns, feed cart, hayforks, tools, copper teakettle, coal buc ket and many others. Tom is 10 and in fifth grade at the Pequea Township Elemen tary School He takes piano les son sand loves to sing. He sings in the school chorus and the church junior choir He loves farm life and all kinds of ani mals Mrs Herr took piano lessons as a girl and plays for her own amusement She is an excellent housekeeper and has a lovely home, having been remodelled and kept in good repair She has a number of lovely pieces ot antique furniture which has come down from earlier gen erations of the family. She and the children have a beautiful collection of 41 cups and saucers which are nicely dis played in a specially made built in china cupboaid. She is especially talented in crafts like antiquing flowers, decorating eggs, making arrange ments of real and artificial flowers, fruits, dried grain, flowers and grasses and nuts and pine cones. She says, “I like to make a lot of different crafts for different holidays ” She takes care of the garden and lawn in the summer and doss a lot of freezing and can- ning. She is a good cook and gives us a couple chicken recipes.
