    Little Marvel (63 days)
A variety of dependable yield, exceptional quality.
Dwarf vines 18" to 20", pods 3" long and very tightly
packed with 7-8 plump, deep green peas. Pods are mostly
borne double, dark green, straight and blunt ended. One of
the most important varieties grown by home gardeners in
the United States. Unsurpassed by any other in recovery of
shelled peas per pound of pods picked—an average of 55%.
Well adapted for freezing.
PUMPKINS
Thomas Halloween (110 days)
The original selection of this decorative pumpkin was
made by the late John Andrew on the farm of Glen
Thomas, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. After years of
breeding and selecting, we have a “second to. none,”
medium to large-fruited, Halloween pumpkin. A deep, rich,
orange color plus a slightly ridged surface give this variety
a distinctive appearance. The shell is hard and the flesh is
thick so that it resists bruising in handling and shipping.
Thomas Halloween will vary in shape from slightly flat
tened to tall oval with a high percentage of desirable rounds.
Fruits weigh 15-30 pounds with a few reaching 50 pounds
under ideal conditions. In Agway trials, total yield has sur
passed the high yielding Connecticut Field pumpkin by 25
percent. Thomas Halloween, however, matures earlier than
Connecticut Field. Excellent for home garden, roadside
stands, and for the shipping trade.
RADISHES
Early Scarlet Globe (24 days)
A special strain, bred, maintained and produced by
Agway. Early, with bright scarlet oval roots and a medium
top. Very desirable for forcing under glass and field grow
ing on muck or mineral soils. Flesh is white, crisp and ten
der. Agway’s most popular home garden variety.
TOMATOES
Hybrid #9BO (80 days)
Verticillium and fusarium resistant hybrid developed
by Agway, Hybrid #9BO has met and exceeded the chal
lenge for the early mid-season market. Greenhouse growers
report that the plants outsell all others on appearance alone.
The extra vigorous vines and fine foliage cover make this

variety ideally suited for staking. Because of the high degree
of disease resistance, this variety will outlast many others in
the same maturity season. The fruit averages 2 to 3 per
pound and is smooth, firm, deep red in color and slightly
flattened with a low incidence of cracking. The excellent
mild flavor has brought favorable comments over the years.
Super Red (90 days)
An Agway developed verticillium and fusarium resist
ant hybrid; large firm fruit. Super Red has been acclaimed
by many in the professional field to be one of the best look
ing tomato hybrids in the late midseason maturity class.
With the high degree of disease resistance, its extra vigor
and excellent foliage cover, this variety will continue to yield
well into the fall. Fruit size will exceed two to a pound with
good cultural practices. Fruit is slightly flattened in shape,
thick-walled, and ripens uniformly with an unusual shine.
Because of its size, color, and prolificness, this variety has
made an excellent market basket variety.
WATERMELONS
Sugar Baby (75 days)
Extra early, round fruits, flesh crisp and sweet with
small brown seeds. Rind is fairly thick and handles well.
The skin is very dark green when fully mature. Many fruits
are in the 4 to 8 pound range when harvested, but have
reached up to 17 pounds. Fruit diameter will vary from 5
to 10" and will average 8". This variety is the most popular
of the “Ice-Box” watermelons—replaces New Hampshire
Midget, Agway’s most popular home garden and local
market melon. Widely adapted, drought resistant. Although
an extra early variety, Sugar Baby was developed in Geary,
Oklahoma and released in 1956 by a Mr. Hardin. Agway
recommends you acquaint yourself with this melon whether
you live in Maine or Delaware, near Boston or Pittsburgh.
Summer Festival F, Hybrid (85 days)
An early hybrid variety from Japan. Very vigorous in
growth, resistant to fusarium wilt and anthracnose. This
desirable hybrid watermelon is oblong in shape with medium
green striped skin (similar to Charleston Gray in shape and
color but smaller.) A thick rind (%"), fruits weighing from
9 to 15 pounds each or more. Flesh is deep rose, firm and
sweet. Small black seeds. A heavy dependable yielder used
by commercial growers for roadside stand and local markets
here in the Northeast.
