Farm Records
Farm records should become
a more important part of the
farming business at this time of
the year because they should be
used of many purposes beside
filing an income tax report.
The evaluation of the farm re
cords according to each enter
prise should give some indica
tion of the future of these parts
of the program. As the year
draws to an end some “pencil
pushing” at the desk is strongly
advised. The records should in
dicate the net returns (or loss
es) of each enterprise and Be
used as a guide for future plan
ning.

Rapid growth in Agway’s
wholesale distribution volume in
the past three years was given
as a key reason for the moves.
The site of the new Elizabeth
town facility is on the Lancas

located off Zeager Road, former

Route 230.
The company is reported to be

Freezing Weather
Freezing weather has arrived
and this adds to the many chores
that should be done around the
home and on the farm. The mul
ching of the strawberry plants is
now timely so that you will have
a better crop next June. The way
in which the plants survive the
winter may control the yield
next spring. When the ground
freezes it is time to apply 2 to 3
inches of wheat or barley stiaw
over the plants; this will keep
out the sun and the wind and
help reduce the amount of al
ternate freezing and thawing of
the ground around the plants;
when this occurs frequently we
get heaving of the plant out of
