bers received recognition in con
nection with the state contests
at the convention at Penn State
recently The five, shown left to
right, and their awards aie as
follows:
Animal By-Product Use
Food tecnnologists have de
veloped a piocess to convert
animal by-products into edible
meat protein concentiate for
human consumption
The high quality, tasteless,
odorless product is made fiom
liver, spleen, heait, stomach,
kidney, viscera, blood, bone.
Analyzed at 75 to 80 per cent
protein, it would effectively sup
plement cereal giam diet of
many of the world’s malnour
ished. Similar fish protein sup
plement already is in use
Animal by-products .vould add
greatly to availability of much
needed protein. An estimated 16
billion pounds cf such pioducts
are now used for animal feed and
could be processed for human
consumption

placing sixth in poultry judging
Dennis Landis, a gold medal
and a two to three day trip in or
near Pennsylvania, for his work
in the machmeiy adjustment and
fai m power contest.

Dave Geilach, a silver medal
for placing 19th out of about
170 contestants in livestock judg
ing.

enjoyed their trip to Penn State
