ranks second nationally in the

the dairy cows in the state.

7th and Wisconsin is 17th.
In 1950, there were approxi
mately 22 million cows in milk
in the U.S. That year, Holstein
registrations totaled 184.246, for
a ratio of 1 to 119. In 1969 the
rato stands at 1 to 49 with 260,-
645 registrations against a total
of 12,648,000 cows in milk.
