Red Lion FFA Chapter, York
County, won the top two spots
in the aiea FFA meat judging
contest at Kunzler & Co, Inc,
Lancaster, Tuesday, but Lancas
tei Countv youths took the re
maining top 10 spots
Only six of the winners, how
ever, aie eligible for the state
competition at Penn State Uni
versity July 1-3, including one
from Red Lion and five fiom
Lancastei County.
Lany Bacon of Red Lion who
placed second this year was
eliminated from the Penn State
competition because he was an
aiea and state winner last year.
He won a trip to the Kansas City
national contest last year after
being a winnei in the state con
test and is banned fiom lepeat

Mike Bankeit of Red Lion took
top honois at the area contest
with 394 3 points, followed by
Bacon’s 372 points
Eligible for the state contest
with Bankeit in July are the
following Lancaster County you
ths Amos Sauder. 364 points,
Manheim Central FFA, Nelson
Weavei, 341, and Robert Halting
315 7, both of Cloister FFA of
Ephrata, Sam Trupe, 306 9,
Grassland FFA New Holland,
and A Bensmger, 306 7, Solanco

Ballots on whether to continue
an apple marketing program
which was adopted three years
ago must be leturned by apple

avoidable delay in preparing the
