For good production next lactation,
FEED PURINA
DAIRY CONDITIONER
As a dairyman, you know that good milk production
doesn’t just happen. It’s something you plan for by
establishing a herd with the genetic potential for good
production, then managing and feeding your cows so
they’ll produce up to their bred-in ability.
Many successful local dairymen also plan for good pro
duction with a proven piogram of dry cow feeding.
They need Purina Dairy Conditioner, a research
proven ration to help give dry cows body condition
they need for good production after they freshen.
Purina Dairy Conditioner is an extra-palatable 12%
percent piotein ration It’s fortified with vitamins A
and D plus extra phosphorus to help guard against milk
fever.
Purina Dairy Conditioner is low-cost, too, because the
amounts you feed depend on your cows’ condition and
on the quality of the roughages you feed For example,
a cow dried off in good condition being fed high-quality
roughages would require less Dairy Conditioner than
a cow in only fair condition being fed fair quality
roughages.
Drop in soon and get your fiee copy of the
Purina Diy Cow Piogram folder We’ll be glad
to show you how Puuna Daily Conditionei can
help you piepare youi dry cows for good pio
duction next lactation

Sewage Disposal
Discussed Here
Two IVnn State extrusion
agents outlined pi open methods
of sewage disposal and how to
got it Monday night at the Farm
and Home Center
Dr. Milford Hcddleson, of the
agronomy extension, spoke on
"Soil Types for Sewage Dispo
sal,” while N Henry Wooding,
extension engineer, outlined
"Sewage Disposal Systems "
Heddleson urged that anyone
seeking to install a septic tank
sytem, pailiculaily when con
structing a new home, check the
soil by i unmng percolation tests.
He outlined types of soil, and
cautioned against soils which
arc too porous and could allow
effluent to run off too quickly
into water s>terns
On the other extieme, he said
that soils which aie too shallow
and contain underlying shale or
clay which aie constantly wet,
also can cause pioblems
Another important factor is
the direction effluent will flow,
on the surface as well as beneath
the soil structure
Wooding outlined proper meth
ods of septic tank construction
and emphasized proper rates of
filtration in the soil, the only
purifying element
Septic tanks and dram fields
should be at least 10 feet from
property lines and occupied
buildings, at least 50 feet from
streams and 100 feet from water
supplies, he said
