A decline in damage began four jeais ago, but this past year, the damage was so low in most fields that spray protection was rot necessaiy, the service re poits. There is no way to determine just what the damage from the weevil will be in 1970, but the service predicts that weevil pop ulations will be low enough to keep damage levels low, perhaps even lower than in 1969.
