    • For The Form Wife
(Continued from Page 20)
He said “There arc some qualita
tive changes in our society
Young people are experiencing
so many more new experiences
than we had. Suddenly for them
everywhere is heie. One of the
dangers we face is confining our
experiences to our conformity.”
“Nothing leads more rapidly to
extinction than genetic conform
ity. America was not built on
people who thought the same
This is one of the things that
made America great Another
temptation, it is awful easy to
turn back the clock, we are prone

They arc foundations on which
we build, We must do a belter
job in liaimng mind and heart.
Wo must realize in education we
must get a crossfire between the
old and the new ideas.”
“A second temptation, for the
younger group, is strictly critic
izing without any respect for the
past There is some standard in
loving this past and respecting it
and understanding it. The first
temptation can only lead to stag
nation, the second to destruc
tion The younger generation has
an intellectual maturity higher
than we had at the same age.
Let us not just react against
them but give some thought to
working with them."
“The new man is an impatient
one He has had everything hand
ed to him. He can see us making
a mistake in getting into the war
but he can’t see us taking so long
in getting out. Man does not
live by knowledge alone. Man
must also have some humility.”

Livestock Barns
The proper ventilation of live
stock barns during the Winter
months is very important Many
dairy barns are filled to capa
city and those practicing stan
chion or comfort stall manage
ment should give some attention
to this practice When there is
condensation from the ceiling or
from the windows, it indicates
either the lack of proper insula
tion or poor ventilation The use
of electric exhaust fans have
been very successful in remov
ing this extra moisture and heat
from the building. For the sake
of improved production and the
life of the building, good venti
lation needs attention during
the Winter months. Publications
on the subject are available
from the Extension Office.

Ladies,
Have You Heard?...
By Doris Thomas, Extension Home Economist
If you are a busy homemaker- who likes to be economical eva
porated milk is an important item to put on your shopping list.
With colder weather ahead you’ll be set to
make nourishing and appealing soups, casserol
es and desserts that call for milk
Evaporated milk ranks second only to dry
milk as an economical buy. Whether you buy
the large size or the small size cans may make
little difference in the cost. It may be wise to
buy the smaller size cans if that’s what you
need for a particular recipe.
Considerations Before Buying A Garment
To make the smartest, both fashion and
dollar-wise, buy in clothes consider these quest
tions:
Is it attractive in style, color and fabnc?
Is it becoming to you?
Does it fit well? If alteiations are necessary
can you do them?
Does it meet a need in your
wardrobe’
How well will it go with the
other clothes in your waidiobe 9
Will wrinkling be a pioblem
during wear?
If drycleaning requued, is this
expense justified 9
Do you think it will weai well
and remain “in style” for a lea
sonable period of time 9
Is the cost justified by your
stem cuttings A leaf with node
and short section of stem inseit
ed upright in moist peatmoss or
perlite at 75 to 80 degrees soon
takes root
