Pony Club
Event Results
With 38 degree temperatures
but lots of enthusiasm from the
68 members involved, the Lan
chester Pony Club’s One Day
Event last Saturday got under
way at the club headquarters at
8:30 a.m. and all five phases
were finished by 5:30 p.m. Five
clubs' participated.

Inter-State Member Honored
For 25 Years Of Membership
A member of the ParadislT
Local of Inter-State Milk Pro
ducers Cooperative was recog
nized for long-term membership
Monday night at the annual
meeting held at Plain and
Fancy Restaurant in Bird-in-
Hand. Warren Denlinger, Para
dise Rl, with 25 years in the
milk marketing association was
awarded a plaque and certifi
cate by Melvin Brendle, District
Director, for continuous mem
bership dating back to 1944.

Surprise Dedicatory
Presentation Made
By Poultry Assn.
In a surprise dedicatory pres
entation, the Lancaster County
Poultry Association honored the
late Levi Brubaker, well known
Agricultural Leader, by present-
ing a plaque in his honor to Aar
on Brubaker, his son, at the Lan
caster County Poultry Associa
tion’s Annual Meeting Thursday
night. Unknown to Aaron,
though he was a member of the
banquet committee, the associa
tion had invited a group of spec
ial guests to attend the presenta
tion. Stanley Mussleman, Master
of Ceremonies, introduced these
guests which included; Floyd
Hicks, M. M Smith, Kermit
Birth Jay Irwin, Mr. and Mrs.
Reynolds Mmnich, Abe Dom
bach, Benjamin Weaver, David
Good, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Kreider

changing and new programs are
needed to meet the needs of the
times. “When I see Class I price
increases ,wasted in the blend
price because of lower Class I
utilization in our market
when consumers pay more for
milk but the producer realizes
no net gain in income, I know
we must get programs that will
get our blend prices up,” he

respected for his good farming
practices, community efforts and
church activities,” Sloat said
“He was an early extension ser
vice director and a Master Farm
er in the early 30’s As an early
director of the Lancaster County
Poultry Association, he helped
start the live poultry auction in
Lancaster and was instrumental
in the construction of the Lan
caster County Poultry Center
“In more recent years, Levi
helped start the Farm and Home
Center for the development of
both farm and home interests.
Levi was persistent,” Sloat said.
“When the forward progress of
the center seemed at a stand-still,
he hired a new lawyer and got a
favorable tax ruling from the in
ternal revenue service. He help
ed bring the center to comple
tion.
“He was interested in soil and
water conservation and was a di
rector of both Philhaven Hos
pital and the Landis Homes. His
practical advice was sought by
many,” Sloat said

Holstein Banquet
Set For Nov. 12
The Lancaster County Holstein
Association has announced their
annual meeting and banquet to
be held November 12 at the
Farm and Home Center, Arcadia
Road, Lancaster. Starting time
is 6:45 p m.

man, said a turkey dinner will be
served and Alpheus L. Ruth,

Farm and Home Center next
Saturday, November 8, it was
announced this week by Mary
Rosenberger and Jay Irwin at
the Extension Office. Orders
will be accepted until 5 p.m.
Nov. 4 and may be picked up at
the center on the Bth no later
than 11 a.m.

Wilhs Z Esbenshade, Lancast
er, has been reelected to the
board of directors of Agway Inc.
Esbenshade was named to a
thiee-year term at the Agway an
nual meeting, recently in Syra
cuse, N.Y. His district includes
Perry, Cumberland, Franklin,
Adams, York and Lancaster
counties in Pennsylvania; and
Washington, Carroll, Frederick,
Baltimore and Harford counties
in Maryland.
He operates a 124-acre farm
on which he raises beef cattle,
poultry, tobacco and field crops
He is the fourth geneiation of

ments however, pose a different

not routine, and may be necessi
tated by changing technology or
